SolidWorks Enterprise PDM

SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (EPDM) provides an easy way for designers to collaborate on product designs without worrying about version control or data loss. It stores CAD models and supporting documents–anything from emails to images–in an indexed central repository that tracks versions and automates workflows to eliminate wasteful repetition.

EPDM is designed for organizations that

  • have anywhere from three designers to hundreds
  • divide engineering work among multiple locations; and/or
  • outsource engineering work

Affordable and easy to implement

SolidWorks EPDM has a low cost of ownership. It's easy to deploy, and you don't have to sit through days of training to learn how to use it. And your IT Manager will be happy to know that he or she won't have to spend hours and hours supporting the system.

Sharing design data

EPDM's accessibility features let you store, search and share product data more efficiently, manage and share product data more effectively, and automate workflows. Streamlining processes between engineering and the shop floor yields better products, lowers costs, and helps you get to market faster.

Keeps your data safe from loss or harm

Strong security and version control functions maintain data integrity. SolidWorks EPDM’s secure access and built-in audit functions protect data from accidental and deliberate damage while tracking who accesses design data, what they changed, and when.

Enterprise PDM Capabilities

Secure Access

Protect your product design data by providing secure, managed access only to authorized individuals, over a network or via the Web. You also can give access to partners, customers, and supply chain partners.

Revision Control

Help your design team avoid overwriting files, and assist purchasing and manufacturing in ordering and producing the correct parts.

Full Document Preview

You can view and print more than 250 file types–including SolidWorks, AutoCAD®, PDF, and Microsoft® Office–plus images, animations, movie files, and more. Other CAD platforms like Inventor® and Solid Edge® can be previewed using readily-available viewers.

Design Data Search and Re-use

It's easy to find documents based on their names, contained data, attached metadata, workflow state, and other parameters. For even greater productivity, you can predefine, save, and share your searches.

Custom Configuration

SolidWorks Enterprise PDM is fully configurable, so it works well within your unique team structure, design process, and industry.

Scalability

As your design organization grows, you'll work with the same high level of speed, functionality, and security.

Vault Replication

For multinational companies, or ones with multiple offices, SolidWorks EPDM supports document/drawing vault replication over a WAN, making current design information immediately available worldwide. EPDM supports Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian and Spanish.

Remote Access

You can give your entire team access to design data from anywhere with a Web connection.

Automated Approval Process

SolidWorks EPDM supports automates functions like engineering change notices (ECN)/engineering change order (ECO) processes, and integration and connectivity to MRP and ERP systems. Workflow diagrams define the paths of documents and related information through the various processes, along with responsible individuals and their access rights (read, modify, approve, etc.). Automatic email notifications prompt team members on actions required at specific stages, while an overview of project status highlights bottlenecks for managers.

Audit Trail

Record and access every event, each workflow, and every version that impacts data sets throughout the lifecycle of your technical data. Accessible from most popular report-writing tools, EPDM’s audit features help you prepare quality compliance reports for internal use, regulatory compliance, ISO audits, or project-specific performance criteria. Audit trails can also help identify potential problems and drive process improvements.
